The Telegraph has reported news about the introduction of shared parental leave, the details of which were included in the Modern Workplaces consultation published in July 2011.
The CIPP Policy team has been waiting with interest for a formal response to this consultation as it has been delayed for some months now due to on-going discussion within government. According to the Telegraph we are due to hear from the Prime Minister and his deputy during the last week in October when they will announce the scheme formally as part of a series of initiatives intended to demonstrate that the Coalition parties are working well together.
The Telegraph’s report seems to have merged the Additional Statutory Paternity Pay (ASPP) rules (introduced in 2011) in with the proposals for the new system of flexible parental leave. This is not wholly surprising as the new system plans to build on ASPP.
